Books
The Wudang Research Association was founded to translate and publish material on topics in traditional Chinese martial arts. We have refined and extended that concept over the years, always returning to our founding concept of providing a bridge between cultures and languages.
We published our first book, Wudang Qigong in 1999. Our second book, Going East or West? was published in 2001 to offer some experiences from our own travels between the US and China. In 2007, we published Professor Liu’s book on Wudang Taiji in Chinese only.
Over the years, we encountered more than a few problems in getting the work completed. Issues with this and that. Things that shouldn’t have been difficult, but turned out to be. Then Professor Liu retired. Without his ongoing participation in the translations, what we planned when we started the company wasn’t going to happen. What might be possible? It was time to evaluate what we had.
In 2020, Terri started a comprehensive review of what had been done since the site was first built in 1996. She’s still looking at those archives. Might be awhile. The questions of what files exist and what might still be done with them remain. What could be done with all of it? Quite a bit, actually. Some of it will be here, on this site. And some, with luck, in a few more books.
Also in 2020, Terri began working on a short story: THE AMBASSADOR. It was a hopeful, sci-fi, family-friendly, martial arts adventure. That short story turned into eight books. In the story, the key characters represent the Five Elements in Xingyiquan. The lore behind the story relies on traditional martial arts (wuxia) lore. The characters reveal quite a lot about traditional martial arts study, practice, and teaching. The final three books in the eight book series were published in May 2025. They provide closure for the key characters and open the doors for the next generations to lead.

In 2024, together with a talented international team, Terri produced and directed a full-theatrical audio drama she adapted from the stories, syndicated the audio to all the podcast platforms, and created visual versions with original art for YouTube. The production won a 2025 Innovation and Excellence Award from Corporate LiveWire in the UK.
The audio and visual versions are available on the official site for the production: Channel 15 Radio dot com
The audio is available on all the podcast platforms.
Clips with more visuals are available on a playlist at our YouTube Channel.
